When to use narrative 3D animations?
3D animation can be used for many purposes. We think that 3D animation is not an end product. It is a tool to amplify your message in a narrative way.
After the briefing, we work towards a concept. And sometimes animation has interesting possibilities, such as the example videos below.
The added value of 3D animation is different for every project.
In one project, a sky replacement can be used to create an international image.
For another project we use 3D animation to reinforce a metaphor.
Sometimes we create a whole 3D world and sometimes we just want to focus on one specific element.
Informative and narrative
3D animation is often used for informative videos, such as infographics. We, at CCD Media, use 3D animation when it contributes to the story and the emotion of the message we want to convey.
The question for the DSM Art film was: portray our art collection.
As you can see, we decided to hang the art collection in a 3D museum. The virtual camera goes through different spaces. Thanks to the 3D animation we were able to incorporate the new DSM building into this 3D museum. This was worth a lot to the client.
We also use 3D animation for background replacement. That can be seen in the video below.
We used this replacement for the campaign films: Women in Science.
Hereby we enhanced the feeling of an apartment in Shanghai.
For GEA Meet the experts series we made a visual transition in 3D. We hereby suggest that life on the playground connects seamlessly with ‘playing’ in GEA’s Technology Center. The marble rolls from the living room onto the work floor. A relatively small transition with great added value for the message.
